Regional Director for Wales and Christianity Explored's Director of Prison Ministries
Stephen JamesStephen joined the Daylight team in 2008 as Regional Director for Wales, working in partnership with Christianity Explored as Director of Prison Ministries to help develop a version of the Christianity Explored course which is specific to prisoners. His role in Wales is to coordinate Daylight's work in Welsh prisons as well as running CE courses himself. He also helps to coordinate Daylight's practical support of ex-offenders after release through the Daylight Prayer and Support Group. His role has been vital in helping to expand Daylight's work in Wales to reach more prisoners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Stephen's background is in the building trade, working as an apprentice from the age of 16 to become a fully qualified and very successful builder. But Stephen found himself in trouble and ended up in prison. It was there that he found Jesus Christ to be the one who would turn his life around in ways that he would never have imagined.
After prison, Stephen went back to higher education and completed an access course in social welfare and then a degree in Sociology. But in all his reading of the social theorists at university he has found nothing quite like the truth that the Bible contains and its life transforming power.
Stephen also became involved in local missions through his church and soon found himself in Liberia, Africa, teaching the book of Ephesians, 1 Thessalonians and Malachi. He has enjoyed being part of the teaching and preaching ministry of his local church.
Stephen is married with two daughters. They love the simple life and enjoy walking and travelling around to enjoy God's creation. Stephen is very much aware that in his life it has been Jesus Christ, His faithful servants and God's word that has made the difference and would want all of the praise to be showered on them
