Go into Prison

That first trip behind bars can be a dangerous one. And yes I am talking about the people you meet inside.

The thing is when you step into Chapel in Prison, you will meet a group of people who are desperate to find something more than the life they have, they are searching for the truth, truth that will set them free; and they are finding it.

“I will never forget my first Prison Service. I had just started with Daylight and was welcomed by the local team (sometime called a Prayer Support Group) to join them on Easter Sunday as they took the Sunday Service for the Prison. I’ve been going to church all my life, in ministry for more than 20 years, and I was so nervous. I shuffled to the front edge of my seat as a crowd of big lads came and sat down behind me.

“But by the end of the service I was “hooked” as my heart went out to these guys.  They had sung with passion and listened to the word in silence.  But the conversations at the end, moved me as I have rarely been moved in church anywhere.

“One man said, “I have been in and out of prison for more than 10 years, but this time it’s Easter and I think God is saying something to me…”, another asked me to pray for his son who he was missing with tears. Five conversations and all about deep personal spiritual needs.

The first trip behind bars can be a dangerous one because you will see the LORD at work in the lives of those you meet. I can almost guarantee you will “catch the bug” and want to go back.

Do get in touch if the LORD JESUS is calling you to meet Him inside.

[N.b. “getting in” can be a time consuming process.  You don’t just walk into prison, there are references and checks, and then some. Be ready to learn patience before seeing the fire!!]
