Jon Spalding and Petra

I was blessed to be brought up in a Christian home. My parents were science teachers and so my world view was shaped from an early age by their confidence in the inspired word of God combined with belief in a world of knowledge that can be researched and explored without any fear of finding a contradiction to the Bibles teaching. I wrestled on and off for several years as a young teenager with a mistaken idea that there must be some sort of preconditions to coming to Christ – having sufficient repentance, sufficient conviction of sin, evidence of some sort of divine sign for me. The simplicity of the command to come as you are eventually sunk in and the fact that God deals differently with us each and so my Christian life began as a 16-year-old from that point.

God has blessed me with Petra my wife of 34 years and 3 adopted children now aged between 20 and 27. We belong to a local Grace Baptist Church which shares the interest in prison ministry and our pastor is often in on a Sunday leading the HMP Wayland morning service.
